About 13F Dashboards

13F Dashboards are used to help generate new stock investment ideas.

To increase the probability of finding quality ideas, the universe is limited to Dataroma’s “Superinvestors” + only their top 10 holdings.

  • Only these investors since more people are familiar with them / use Dataroma, and are investors that are more value oriented.

  • Only top 10 holdings, given not interested in their 79th best idea for instance.

  • Yes, there are great potential investments outside of these holdings, such as in microcaps. However, there are already plenty of tools and resources for those companies. These Dashboards were created as an easy way to compare 13F holdings on a current statistical basis to determine which are the most attractive today.

Each stock is ranked by different statistics as of today (not when they were first purchased by the Superinvestor) to find those most attractive today (based on more recent price movements, updated earnings, new insider purchases, etc.

  • Lowest P/FCF, highest gross margins, most insider buying, largest price declines, etc.

Premium filters and combinations of filters are used to then find those under more desired criteria.

  • Ex: Held by at least 2 funds, US only, no healthcare, etc.

  • Currently 20 premium filters and combinations of filters.

Sample: Update #10

The following is a sample of the free 13F Dashboard that will be sent out and updated on a regular basis (This data is from Update #10 and as of 8/20/2024):

  • This is what will be updated frequently given new 13Fs come out, market prices move, financials are updated quarterly, insiders make new purchases, etc.

  • Premium version has 20 filters of the this Dashboard, to only include stocks with desired criteria.

  • Dashboards emailed out will be in a PDF, with significantly higher quality.

Why I Created

This is one of my processes for finding new stock investment ideas.

I have spent a long time (nearly a year) working on this to get it in a form for public use.

I have been looking through 13Fs for a long time, but originally I did not have an easy or cheap way to compare their holdings on a current statistical basis to determine which are the most attractive today (not when they bought them)…so I created these Dashboards.

Additionally, I wanted all information in a single PDF, to be able to very easily view on my phone. Most online tools are not the easiest to use on mobile, or have too many ads.

One inspiration was the following:

Which was why I added the following for all companies within the Premium Dashboards (includes their stats, a description, and Superinvestors who own it):

Where to Download

There will be frequent posts / emails with the 13F Dashboards, updated for new information.

I have also created a new Twitter account, called “13F Dashboard”, which will be used to notify about updates.

Updates / Refreshes

Quick Note on Market Caps

I have noticed market price data may have a slight lag. I do have a way to use a different source, but then the ratios would not match.

Given I will be refreshing these dashboards often, this is likely not too much of a concern, especially since the point of these Dashboards is to look more for anomalies and generate ideas.

Why A New Substack

Different Content
  • 13F Dashboards is used to FIND public companies to invest in with many ideas in an organized / sorted / ranked manner.

    • The Dashboards can help find investment ideas that fit YOUR own desired criteria, rather than only what I prefer.

  • Swany407 Investment Research and my Research Notes are more in-depth RESEARCH on specific companies, general investment historical investments and past businesses, and portfolio updates on my actual holdings.

    • I plan to share preliminary research on ideas I find in the 13F Dashboards on a regular basis.

Different Audiences
  • I did not want to send frequent emails with these Dashboards to everyone subscribed to Swany407 Investment Research for the current specific companies I research.

  • Additionally, some investors may want to only subscribe to the 13F Dashbaords, and not want emails on individual companies like CDLX and CVNA in Swany407 Investment Research.

Better Organization
  • I also believe this will lead to better organization, with separating discovery and research.

Free vs Premium

  • Free 13F Dashboards do not have any filters, however, I created these free Dashboard to still have significant value.

    • I wanted to still provide what I feel are extremely insightful Dashboards to help you find investment ideas for free.

  • Premium 13F Dashboards currently include 20 different filters, which adds 20 additional Dashboards.

    • I spend most of my time using the Premium 13F Dashboards, since there are specific criteria / areas I am looking for.

Price for Premium

  • Finding a single idea over the course of a year is worth significantly more than where the current rates are temporarily set.

  • Prices will soon increase. I wanted to start lower to provide a benefit to those who upgrade early.

  • Therefore, upgrade today to lock in to today’s current rate. Your rate will not increase, even upon all future renewals (as long as you do not cancel and resubscribe).
